It has been an unforgettable few weeks for Casey Stoney.
First she helped the Gunners reach the semi-finals of the Continental Cup, then was named Arsenal Ladies Supporters Club Player of the Season, before collecting an MBE from the Queen.
Stoney hopes top it all off by reaching the Continental Cup final with a victory on Sunday against Birmingham City – and the defender is confident they can progress.
"We want to keep the momentum going on Sunday"
“We played Birmingham last week in the league and won 1-0 but we know we can play better, and we are desperate to win some silverware,” she told Arsenal.com.
“Finishing third in the league probably was not good enough by our standards. We didn’t get to the FA Cup final which is unusual for Arsenal so it is massively important we get to the Continental Cup final and get some silverware.
“We are pretty good in cups and have been consistent. Beating Chelsea away 2-0 [in the group stage] quite comfortably was a really good result for us.
“Beating Manchester City [in the quarter-finals] was another fantastic result so we want to keep the momentum going on Sunday.
“I suppose we are expected to win this game but we want to go out and show why we are in this tournament and why we can win it.”
