Dominique Janssen is enjoying life as a Gunner. Arriving at Arsenal on the back of an impressive World Cup, the Dutch international feels right at home in club colours.
The 20-year-old moved to north London from Bundesliga side SGS Essen in July, having previously played for her local team, RKSV Wittenhorst.
Janssen believes she has proved that she has what it takes to be an important part of the Arsenal squad, and now wants to develop further under Pedro Martinez Losa.
"I think I’m a little bit lucky that I’ve played so much, but I think I’ve proved that I can play and can be important for the team"
“I feel very happy here and I love the club,” Janssen told Arsenal.com. “I think I’m a little bit lucky that I’ve played so much, but I think I’ve proved that I can play and can be important for the team.
“I can develop well here because I feel comfortable [although] at the beginning it was a little bit hard because I had a long season as well the World Cup.”
Janssen has started Arsenal’s last three Women Super League games and stressed the importance of Sunday’s game against Manchester City.
“If we win, I think Manchester City are probably out of it so we have to get the three points,” she said.
“We’re playing at home so if we’re at our best then I think we can win. I don’t know exactly what the feeling was like to beat them before, but I want to help the team win this game to experience that feeling for the first time.”
