Laura Harvey believes Arsenal have to win all of their remaining matches if they are going to win the inaugural Women’s Super League - starting with Lincoln Ladies on Thursday.
The Ladies lost 3-1 against Everton on Sunday and are now five points behind leaders Birmingham, who they face in a crucial top-of-the-table clash on Sunday, with a game in hand.
With just five matches left, the manager knows there is no room for any slip-ups.
“If we want to keep up our title hopes, we have got to make sure we win the rest of our games,” Harvey told Arsenal.com.
“It’s a must-win game. We have to make sure we get it in our own hands and by winning we keep the league in our hands.
“The result is the most important thing. It would be nice to get a good performance ahead of the game on Sunday but the result is the most important thing against Lincoln.
“If we get a good performance but don’t win, the Birmingham game isn’t as important. First and foremost, we’ve got to make sure we get the result.”
Goals from Jordan Nobbs and Ellen White gave Arsenal victory when the two sides met earlier in the season. Harvey is expecting another difficult game at Boreham Wood but is confident of getting those all-important three points.
“They are organised, physically strong, will compete really well and have got some senior international players who went to the World Cup. They don’t lack experience at all.
“But, if we play our game and stick to our strengths, I’m sure we can overcome them.”
Thursday's game kicks off at 7.45pm at Boreham Wood FC. Come along and give your support to the Ladies.
