Arsenal Under-18s suffered a 5-2 defeat away to Manchester City in their opening game of the new Premier Academy League campaign.
The hosts took a five-goal lead in the match, with Harry Bunn netting a hat-trick. His first came from the penalty spot after seven minutes and he doubled his side's lead midway through the first half.
Winger Alex Henshall made it 3-0 shortly after half-time before Bunn completed his hat-trick in the 74th minute.
Emerick Hippias added to Arsenal's misery with 10 minutes to go, but Steve Bould's side hit back immediately.
A goalmouth scramble resulted in the ball falling for Martin Angha who struck home. Jeffrey Monakana got a second for the Gunners with three minutes remaining.
