Goals from Gilly Flaherty, Ciara Grant and Kim Little helped Arsenal Ladies to a 3-0 away win against Sparta Prague on Wednesday evening.

The game was the first leg of the UEFA Women's Champions League Round of 16 and the Gunners will take a healthy lead back to Boreham Wood.

Flaherty opened the scoring 11 minutes in after Sparta failed to properly execute the offside trap leaving six Arsenal players with time and space in front of goal, enabling Flaherty to loft the ball over the hosts' keeper.

A second was added 27 minutes in when a Rachel Yankey corner was headed in by Grant.

Ten minutes after the break Tony Gervaise's side struck again.

Kim Little was brought down inside the area after receiving the ball from Yankey. A penalty was awarded and Little picked herself up to convert the spot kick.

The second-leg takes place at Boreham Wood FC next Wednesday.

Referee: Christine Beck (GER)
