Arsenal Ladies' 1-0 win away to Watford has seen them move five points clear at the top of the Premier League.

The Gunners went top of the FA Tesco Premier League on Sunday and strengthened their position with a win over the Hornets on Wednesday.

Arsenal started brightly and held Watford in their own half for most of the first period. Arsenal were awarded two penalties during the match but missed both, keeping Watford in the game.

Julie Fleeting netted the winner on 51 minutes when Rachel Yankey's cross was headed clear but rebounded off Fleeting and into the goal. Watford came close to an equaliser when they hit the cross bar midway through the second half.

Second-placed Leeds Carnegie are now five points nehimd the Gunners, with one more game in hand. The two sides meet at Emirates Stadium on Wednesday, May 12.
