A Julie Fleeting double helped Arsenal Ladies progress to the
Quarter Finals of the League Cup where they will face Nottingham
Forest.
The Gunners, fresh from their superb 5-0 UEFA Women's Cup
victory in Breidablik last Thursday, took the lead with a goal from
Gemma Davison in the 21st minute.
The in-form Davison showed great skill to find a way through the
Birmingham defence before firing a low drive past the oncoming
goalkeeper.
Scotland captain Fleeting doubled Arsenal's lead after 50
minutes, calmly rounding the Blues keeper and slotting the ball
into a open net.
Fleeting got her second goal of the game in the final minute
after Kelly Smith split the Birmingham defence with a superb pass.
Once again Fleeting showed great composure and finished with
ease.
