Arsenal travelled to the current league leaders last night and
came away with a valuable 3 points after a close encounter.
The home side started out brightly and showed that they had
every intention that they would not give up their seat at the top
of the table without a fight.
Bristol showed great organisation in the first half to frustrate
Arsenal and make it difficult for them to play their passing game
through the midfield.
After the interval Arsenal continued to control the greater
amount of possession but still were unable to make the final pass
tell.
They went close when Katie Chapman headed onto the bar only for
the rebound to land in the keepers arms.
But their persistence paid off in the 82nd minute when Lianne
Sanderson played a through ball to the on-coming Carney who then
rounded the keeper to slot the ball into the net and with it bag
her team all 3 points.
Arsenal now sit in second place just 2 points off Bristol
Academy but have 6 games in hand.
