Arteta: Performances are tribute to fans

Mikel Arteta says Arsenal’s free-scoring displays in pre-season are an effort to give something back to the Club’s passionate supporters in Asia.

Arsene Wenger’s side scored seven times in matches against the Indonesia Dream Team and the Vietnamese national team after arriving in the Far East last week.

Arteta is enjoying the tour and says the squad have been taken aback by the reception they have received.

"Vietnam is unbelievable. I think it's a place that Arsenal will come back to in a few years time"

“We tried our best again,” he told Arsenal Player after the win in Hanoi. “The way the fans have behaved with us since we have been here has been absolutely fantastic.

“The only way we could give them that back was by performing on the pitch. They were very excited for the [Vietnam] game and I think we put on a good show with a lot of goals. It was an entertaining game.

“Vietnam is unbelievable. I think it's a place that Arsenal will come back to in a few years time. It's the first time that any Premier League club has been in this country and I think it's been worth it.

“I've never seen something like it - how crazy the fans are here, the amount of motorbikes we've seen following the bus and we've got some good stories as well so I think it's been very nice."
