Walter Anderson

Walter Anderson had an impressive scoring record during his short career with Arsenal.

The diminutive forward netted 11 times in 30 appearances for the first-team after joining the Club from Sheffield United in December 1901.

Anderson made his League debut at home to Preston a month later and struck up a productive partnership with fellow striker William Gooing.

Arsenal finished fourth in Division Two with the help of Anderson's goals but John Coleman's arrival at the start of the 1902/03 season saw him move to the fringes of the first team.

Anderson was eventually transferred to Plymouth in the summer of 1903 and his life was tragically cut short. He died in March 1904, aged just 25.
