A powerful central defender with an impressive passing range, Taylor spent the second half of last season on loan with League Two side Hartlepool Town, making 11 appearances. He was a mainstay of the under-21s before that, and played 21 times in all competitions. Taylor, who once played as an emergency goalkeeper – during his debut for U23s – is a natural leader and a kickboxing black belt.
