Sid Pugh

Sid Pugh joined Arsenal from school and worked as a telephonist at Highbury.

The half back joined the Club’s playing staff as an amateur in April 1936 before turning professional two years later.

Pugh suffered a severe kidney injury against Birmingham in his only senior appearance for Arsenal and never played again.

He served as a Flying Officer in the RAF during the Second World War but was killed on active service in 1939.
