Combative midfielder Matteo is spending the season out on loan, just as he did last term. For 2021/22 the Frenchman is back in his home country with Marseille, who finished fifth in Ligue 1.
Last season Matteo was loaned to Hertha Berlin, scoring twice in 24 Bundesliga appearances.
A deep-lying, hard-working central midfielder, he had two productive seasons in the Gunners first team upon joining from Lorient in 2018.
Born in the suburbs of Paris, Matteo started his youth career with Paris Saint-Germain at the age of six, before making his first-team debut, aged 17, for Lorient.
