Perhaps better known for his spell as a manager, Les Henley began his playing career at Arsenal in 1938 and made his only senior appearance for the team in an FA Cup tie against West Ham United in 1946. He went on to play 97 times during the Second World War.
Henley also served in that war and, after leaving Arsenal, joined Reading. He played almost 200 games for the Royals before injury ended his career during the 1952/53 season.
Following his retirement, Henley went on to manage Wimbledon from 1955 until 1971.
