Harry King

Put simply, Harry King was one of Arsenal’s most prolific strikers before the First World War put his goalscoring to an end.

Signed from Northampton Town for £1,000 in 1914, King went on to score 26 goals in just 37 league appearances for the Club, as well as adding a further three in the FA Cup.

King holds the Club record for hat-tricks/matches, scoring one every 9.75 games. In fact, in 1914, he scored the first ever hat-trick at Highbury, meaning he claimed the first match ball there

Eventually, after serving with the Royal Garrison Artillery in Italy during the war, King joined Leicester City for £900 in 1919.
