George Marks spent 10 years with the Club but only made two senior appearances, mainly due to the outbreak of the Second World War.
The goalkeeper joined in 1936 but immediately went out on loan to Arsenal’s nursery club, Margate. After returning to the Gunners, he was used as an understudy to George Swindin and Alex Wilson but did play in the final two games of the 1938/39 season, against Derby and Brentford respectively.
Marks served with the RAF in Northern Ireland during the war, but once hostilities ceased he returned to the Club. He eventually moved on to Blackburn Rovers for £5,000 in 1946, before going on to join both Bristol City and then Reading.
He died in 1998, aged 82.
