Duncan Gemmell played in the Club’s first ever game.
The inside/outside right joined Royal Arsenal in 1892 and was a consistent performer in the Club’s last pre-league season, scoring 16 goals in 45 appearances.
Gemmell, originally from Scotland, signed full League forms in June 1893 and played in the first five games the Club ever played in the league.
He also made three FA Cup appearances but was dropped after a 6-0 defeat to Newcastle in September 1893 and never regained his place from Gavin Crawford.
