Charlie Jones was a key figure in Herbert Chapman's revolutionary 'WM' formation.
After being signed by Arsenal's legendary manager from Nottingham Forest for £4,800 in May 1928, Jones made 195 starts and scored eight goals in six years at Highbury.
The hard-working outside left/wing half played his part in three of Arsenal's First Division titles in the 1930s and appeared in the 1932 FA Cup final, which the Gunners lost to Newcastle.
Jones made his debut on the opening day of the 1928/29 campaign and missed only three league games in his first season.
A versatile midfielder, the Wales international appeared regularly for four of the next five seasons (although he missed out on the team's 1930 FA Cup success) until his retirement from the game.
In May 1934 he became manager of Notts County.
