Andrew Rankin struggled to make an impact in Woolwich Arsenal's first team after joining from Glasgow Northern in September 1891.
He never featured in the league, instead making his first-class debut - the first of only three appearances for the Club - in an FA Cup qualifier against Millwall Athletic in November 1892.
Rankin did make 74 senior and 15 reserve appearances for Royal Arsenal, however.
A nibbler by trade, the full back worked at Woolwich Ordnance factory.
