Aaron Ramsdale enhanced his reputation as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League with a commanding season between the posts in 2022/23. He was on the pitch for every minute of our league campaign – the first player to do that for us since Wojciech Szczęsny in 2011/12 – and kept 14 clean sheets. Regularly producing some stunning saves when it really mattered, he won the Premier League Save of the Month award in both March (for his stop from Bournemouth’s Dango Ouattara) and April (from Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah).

Comfortable in possession when playing out from the back, Aaron joined the Gunners in the summer of 2021 from Sheffield United, the club at which he started his career and for whom he made his debut aged 18. He joined AFC Bournemouth in 2017 and enjoyed loan spells at Chesterfield and AFC Wimbledon, where he won their Young Player of the Year award as he helped the club avoid relegation from League One. He returned to Bournemouth, winning the supporters’ Player of the Year award in 2019/20, before rejoining Sheffield United at the start of 2020/21 – a campaign in which he was named the club’s Player and Young Player of the Year.

A regular for England at youth levels, the right-footed stopper won the UEFA U19 Championships in 2017, and made his full international debut in November 2021, in a 10-0 win over San Marino. He was part of the squad that reached the final of Euro 2020 and the quarter-finals at the 2022 World Cup.
