The points were shared on an evening of missed chances in Turin as Italian champions Juventus held us to a 1-1 draw.

A second-half equaliser from Vivianne Miedema ensured we remain top of Group C, unbeaten in our Champions League campaign so far.

What happened

It was a dominant first half from our Gunners, both in terms of possession and attacking chances, but we were unable to convert in the final third.

We started the game with intent and Frida Maanum got an early shot away after some neat interplay at the edge of the box from our attack. A series of in-swinging corners from Steph Catley led to a number of goalmouth scrambles but the Italian hosts managed to clear the danger.

When we weren’t dominating possession, our aggressive press continued to bear fruit but we had to wait until the half-hour mark for our first shot on target, as Stina Blackstenius' powerful strike beat Peyraud-Magnin in the Juventus goal but was denied by the crossbar.

Just before the break, another magic dribble from Frida Maanum through the centre of the park set Blackstenius through on goal, forcing a good save from Peyraud-Magnin at the near post.

We started brightly in the second half, with yet another set-piece chance requiring a header off the line from Juventus. Entirely against the run of play, the Italian champions drew first blood through Lineth Beerensteyn after the winger used her pace to run through the lines and slot the ball past Zinsberger.

Vivianne Miedema, in her first start since early November, pulled us level just after 60 minutes, heading home from a Maanum corner.

Despite a last-gasp chance from Caitlin Foord - through on goal with only the keeper to beat - the game remained 1-1 at the close of play.

What this means

We stay top of our group having played every opposition once and remaining unbeaten. Our next European test is Juventus again at Emirates Stadium on December 7.

In the other Group C fixture of the evening, Lyon recorded their first win of the campaign as they sunk FC Zurich 3-0 away from home.
