WHAT HAPPENED
We hit London Bees for seven at Meadow Park on Thursday, with Beth Mead bagging her first goals for the club from the spot.
The forward fired narrowly wide with her first opportunity after being played in on goal over the heads of the Bees defenders.
A few moments later Lisa Evans tried her luck, attempting a curled effort from the right hand-side, which was caught by Sophie Harris in goal.
Shortly before the half-hour mark Evans opened the scoring, when she stroked the ball under Harris after a good pass by Jordan Nobbs.
Ten minutes later Emma Mitchell doubled our lead with a fine half-volley on the edge of the penalty area.
Shortly after, Mitchell headed in her second of the game, meeting Nobbs’ corner at the near post.
Soon after the interval, substitute Jodie Taylor made it four, burying a rebound into the bottom corner.
Just a few minutes later Mead made it five from the spot, having been bundled over inside the penalty area.
With full-time nearing, Mead doubled up and added a sixth with yet another penalty after Louise Quinn was pushed to the ground.
Pedro Martinez Losa’s side weren’t content with the six goals they already had though, and soon added another, with Quinn this time heading in from close range.
WHAT IT MEANS
The result means that we are back to winning ways following two disappointing results in the league rise to the top of Group One South, ahead of Watford on goal difference.
WHAT’S NEXT
Up next is an away trip to Everton on October 29, following the international break.
