Charles Sagoe Jr scored a dramatic 89th-minute winner as our under-18s opened their Premier League Cup campaign with a 2-1 victory at West Ham United.

We started brightly against our London rivals, with the lively Marcelo Flores starting a sweeping move forward before racing on and seeing his shot from inside the area blocked.

Remy Mitchell then had to be alert to keep out a looping header from Hammers defender Regan Clayton before the interval.

But we took control after the restart when Flores played a lovely through ball for Khayon Edwards, who beat the last man and kept his cool to slot home the opener.

Flores was at the heart of the action soon afterwards when his shot was saved and Charles Sagoe Jr knocked it in from close range, but it was ruled out for offside.

The Hammers equalised from the spot was Taylor Foran was adjudged to have taken down Divin Mubama in the area, and the forward slotted him himself from the spot with nine minutes remaining.

But with almost the last kick of the game, Sagoe Jr scored a dramatic winner for us at the end of a flowing move to kick off our Premier League Cup campaign in style.
