Arsenal in the Community Football Plus

Part funded by the Premier League, our Football Plus programme uses regular grassroots football activities delivered by Arsenal in the Community coaches as a platform to raise awareness of important social issues while providing playing opportunities for children and young people.

Players and parents are offered opportunities to engage with topics such as touchline conduct and attitudes towards officials, both of which can blight the grassroots game. Wider topics addressed healthy living, anti-bullying, respect and fair play, and anti-racism.

Weekly Football Plus training sessions and fixtures are for children aged 6-16 and provide a child-centred environment that gives them a positive first (and continued) experience of the game. Activities are designed with children of mixed playing ability in mind and will help those taking part to develop their football skills, learn more about football and make new friends. These concepts are brought to life through our programme values that form the basis of coaching sessions, workshops and challenges on matchdays. These values are:

•Be respectful
•Be a great team-mate
•Play fair
•Try your best
•Never give up
•Have fun

Premier League Football Plus is supported by the Premier League and Professional Footballers Association. Administered through the Premier League Charitable Fund, the funding helps football clubs to tackle inequality and respond to local challenges, supporting people and their communities to be more inclusive.

This season 24 professional football club community organisations across the Premier League and English Football League are delivering projects supported by the Premier League and PFA in their Communities.

Nationally, these funded projects have engaged more than 230,000 unique participants in more than 330,000 sessions across England and Wales. Projects are supported by current and former professional football players, and scholars, to enhance their impact on participants.
