Petr underlined his enduring quality with a series of impressive performances during the 2016/17 season.
The Czech shot stopper produced stunning displays in our Emirates FA Cup semi-final victory over Manchester City, our narrow home win over Leicester City and also in the north London derby at White Hart Lane.
Cech made 35 appearances in the Premier League during 2016/17 with a further two appearances in the FA Cup.
The campaign ended with Petr collecting his fifth FA Cup winners’ medal and his first with the club since his move across London in 2015.
In his debut season, Cech claimed the Premier League Golden Glove award after notching up 16 clean sheets, more than any other goalkeeper in the competition.
The 2015/16 season also saw Petr match and beat David James’ all-time Premier League clean sheet record by keeping his 170th clean sheet in the league in a win against Bournemouth in December 2015.
Euro 2016 marked the end of an impressive international career, with Cech signing off after five major international tournaments with a total of 126 caps for the Czech Republic.
As his country’s most-capped player of all-time, Petr also boasts an unprecedented nine Czech Footballer of the Year awards.
