Arsenal Under-21s captain Julio enjoyed a successful season last year. Having endured a number of injury-disrupted campaigns following his arrival from the Barcelona youth setup in 2013, the ball-playing defender led Steve Gatting’s side to promotion from Division Two.
The Spaniard started all 24 games for the under-21s last season, and was also a regular for the under-19 side in the UEFA Youth League. A natural leader and communicator, Julio is comfortable playing anywhere in defence and in a defensive midfield role, but excels in his natural centre back role.
His highlight last season was scoring a brace in in the UEFA Youth League as came from behind to beat Olympiacos 3-2. He will spend this season on loan at RCD Mallorca - the club of his birthplace.
