Liam’s name needs little introduction to Arsenal fans nor lovers of the wider game.
He made his name as a dominant midfielder for the Gunners during the 1970s, making 307 appearances and picking up a winners’ medal at the 1979 FA Cup final.
These days he heads up the Arsenal Academy, having taken control back in 1996.
Liam has presided over great on-field success, including three FA Youth Cup wins and two consecutive Academy Premier League triumphs in 2009 and 2010, although his biggest achievement has been in overseeing the constant flow of outstanding young talent that emerges from the Academy.
Players’ development, and their preparation for the first-team environment, always comes first.
After a successful playing career at Arsenal, he represented several top Italian sides before managing Celtic and Brighton. He also worked as right-hand man to Ireland boss Giovanni Trappatoni before stepping down during 2009/10.
