Holland 2-1 Brazil, Quarter-Finals

Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, Port Elizabeth

Robin van Persie played the first 85 minutes as Holland recorded a famous victory over Brazil in the Quarter-Finals of the World Cup.

The Arsenal striker led the line well as a fine team effort saw off the tournament favourites and sent the Dutch into the last four.

Robinho had an early strike disallowed for offside but he fired Brazil ahead in the 10th minute after latching onto Felipe Melo's through ball.

The Netherlands faced an uphill task after that but they drew level eight minutes after the break when Melo inadvertently headed past his own goalkeeper from Wesley Sneijder's cross.

Sneijder himself grabbed the winner 15 minutes later, nodding Dirk Kuyt's flick-on past Julio Cesar.

And Brazil's afternoon went from bad to worse when Melo was sent off for stamping on Arjen Robben.

Holland will face Uruguay or Ghana in the Semi-Finals on Tuesday night.
