Wenger - To master the midfield is important
By Nick Teale
Arsène Wenger has hailed the impact of midfielder trio Tomas Rosicky, Samir Nasri and Andrey Arshavin on Arsenal's season.
The manager believes their versatility and technical ability are key to the Gunners’ style of play, especially in Europe.
Arshavin has played across Arsenal's front three this season, and was particularly impressive when he stood in up front when the Gunners' injury crisis hit its peak during the winter.
Nasri missed the first two months of the season with a broken leg but has been impressive in recent weeks. His delicate assist helped Cesc Fabregas give Arsenal the lead against Burnley last weekend, and the Frenchman scored one of the Gunners' goals of the season in the 5-0 win over Porto in midweek.
Rosicky has enjoyed one of his best seasons in an Arsenal shirt and has played on the left, right and in midfield this term, returning to the creative force he was before rupturing his knee ligaments two years ago.
All three have earned the praise of Wenger this week.
"It is very important when you fight in Europe to have a good technical level," said the manager.
"All these players give you a guarantee of good technique. To master the midfield is important. We have a game based on quick passing movement that demands good technique."
