Wenger - I always give credit where it is due
By Nick Teale
Arsène Wenger has admitted that he is a sore loser but says he does give credit where it is due.
The manager has recently received criticism in the press for comments made after the Premier League away trips to Aston Villa and Chelsea. The Frenchman has since insisted that in both cases he was actually being complimentary towards the Gunners' opposition.
Some analysts within the game have accused Wenger of being a sore loser, an allegation the manager doesn't deny. However he is adamant that he does award credit where it is deserved.
"You say in the press I am a sore loser," he said. "Maybe - I don't deny that.
"But in the last game I was not and one quality you have to give me when you read some of my press conferences after the game when we win I always try to give credit to the loser.
"I'm not an angel; I don't want to say that. I do not want to go into that controversy with what the opponent says when he has won the game because for us it is more important to keep our energy to focus on tomorrow's game [against Liverpool]."
