Armand Traore was chosen to fill the troublesome left back slot at Sunderland on Saturday.
With Gael Clichy (back) and Kieran Gibbs (foot) both out, Arsène Wenger decided to hand the Frenchman his second ever Premier League start for the Club and his first Arsenal appearance of any kind in two seasons.
Aaron Ramsey retained his role in central midfield. Andrey Arshavin dropped to the bench. He was joined there by Denilson and Theo Walcott, both of whom have just returned from injury.
