Arsenal Ladies captain Faye White has praised the strength of the Gunners’ squad after picking up another major trophy with the club.
Arsenal have been pushed all the way in the race for the WSL title with the outcome of the trophy not being decided until the final day of the season.
But White believes the strength of Laura Harvey’s squad has made all the difference during this campaign.
“It’s been a real squad effort this year and in every match someone else seems to pop up at the vital moment. It’s not just with goals either,” White told Arsenal.com.
“The starting line-up has changed constantly over the season because of the strength of the squad. Jennifer Beattie hasn’t played much at the end of the season but at the start she came up with some vital goals at vital times.
“Jordan [Nobbs] has come in and won a couple of player of the match awards. Everyone has played their part in this win and it shows the strength of the squad,” she added.
White has won 31 major honours during an incredible 15-year career at Arsenal and is hungry to lift more trophies for the Gunners.
But she believes that winning the first WSL trophy is one of the biggest achievements of her career.
“It’s been tough trying to get our hands on the trophy this year but we are absolutely delighted to have finally done it on the last day of the season,” she said.
“You want to keep winning as long as you can. The last trophy is always the most special because you can never tell when the next one is going to be so I treasure every trophy we win.
“But this one is special because it’s the first WSL trophy and because we have been really pushed during the course of the season by the other teams.”
