Ludlow - We want a Final spot this year

By Joe Brewin

Jayne Ludlow says Arsenal Ladies are gunning for a place in the Women’s Champions League Final.

Laura Harvey’s side booked their place in the Quarter-Finals with a comprehensive 6-2 aggregate victory over Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday - reaching the last eight for the ninth successive season.

Last season the Ladies reached the Semi-Finals before bowing out to eventual winners Lyon and Ludlow says they want to go one better this time around.

“The boss said to us before the game that we might be the only team to reach the Quarter-Finals every year since this tournament started and it is a great achievement for the Club,” Ludlow told Arsenal Player.

“We are not happy yet though, we want to get to the Final this year.

“Whoever we come up against we have to be at our best to hopefully go through to the next round. The German teams and Lyon are very strong of course, but at this stage they're going to be very competitive games whoever we get.

“It was a really good end to the year,” added Ludlow. “When you look back through the season, which seems to be so long, we have done great.

“We have picked up trophies again so the boss is happy, the girls are happy and today just finished it all off. We scored some really good goals as well which was really pleasing.”
