A highly promising Scottish defender, Jennifer quickly settled into the Arsenal Ladies squad during her first season in 2009/10 - making 27 appearances.

She continued to prove vital to the cause as the Women’s Super League kicked in earlier this year.

A backline player who also knows the way to goal, Jennifer contributed greatly to Scotland’s near-miss in the FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers two seasons ago.

Q&A

Which player most inspired you and why?
Roy Keane, through his work-rate and determination

Which coach most inspired you?

Tony Gervaise - he was Scotland's national youth team coach through all age groups and always had a way with words to get the girls up for games.

What was the best advice they gave you?

"Hard work only beats talent, when talent doesn't work hard."

Best player you’ve played with?
I haven't played with her but I trained with Kelly Smith. Her change of pace is unbelievable and easily shows why she's still one of the best footballers in the world.

Toughest opponent?
Elodie Thomis, against Lyon in the Women's Champions League.

What are your memories of your first club as a child?

My first memories are from captaining a boys team I played for when I was younger. We had trips to Holland for pre-season games but my mum had to come too because I was the only girl so I couldn't share a room with any of the boys!

What tip would you give a young player hoping to succeed?
Work hard and enjoy it!

What was the experience of playing in a youth final tournament?
The Macedonia finals for the U-19s in 2010 was special because it was the first time a Scottish youth team had won a point in the finals stage! It was also special for me as I scored my first goal in a finals tournament against England even though we lost 3-1.
