Read unique Arsenal stories written by players, staff and supporters
The 125 Project
As part of Arsenal's celebrations to mark its 125th anniversary, July saw the launch of ‘The 125 Project', which was developed in collaboration with our partner, Nike.
‘The 125 Project' became an evolving collection of unique Arsenal stories submitted by players, staff, celebrities including Spike Lee and, most importantly, you our supporters. There was an overwhelming response to the project, with 1250 stories uploaded from around the world, with the microsite sitting on the Club's Facebook site receiving 45,000 unique visitors and 112,000 page impressions since its inception.
The best stories were selected by our Facebook followers, and have now been installed onto some of the benches by the Spirit of Highbury team picture above The Armoury Store. If you happen to be over in the UK please do take your time to visit the benches and read the stories for yourselves.
Thank you to everyone that took the time to submit a story, we hope the lasting legacy of the project stands as a testament to your amazing support. Below are just two of the stories you'll find in ‘The 125 Project.'
Snow Way
I've been making a yearly trip [from the States] to England for the past few years to watch Arsenal and see friends. I was excited for this trip because I had tickets to see Arsenal at home to Chelsea on the 27th of December.
Then I caught a weather bulletin.
Snow was on the way. The trip I looked forward to above everything else was about to be cancelled. While I was eating Christmas dinner with my family, I was struck with the idea of trying to change my flight. Beat the snow, go to England a day early.
So I called. And I don't know if it was because of the impending snow and cancelations and angry customers, or Christmas spirit, but the airline changed my flight for free. But I was due to take off in 2 hours, and was still an hour away from the airport. So on a VERY full stomach; I was whisked to the airport as quickly as possible.
I made it to the game, a thrilling and unforgettable 3-1 victory. Hugging every person I could after every goal.

Two German Girls in New York...
I moved to New York City in August 1999, and I knew I was entering Baseball Country.
Bergkamp was my hero, Wenger had just brought in this kid Thierry Henry and I was curious how he would do.
Nobody here cared about football - hell, they called it soccer!! There was only one bar (an Irish pub) in the whole city where you could watch a game. One morning I went to an old German bakery on the Upper East Side, wearing my precious Gunners shirt.
The young woman behind the counter took my order, looked up and said with a big smile : " Nice shirt."
Then she proceeded to lift her apron - and revealed a Tottenham shirt. It was hysterical.
Two German girls, in New York City, wearing the shirts of two of the fiercest English Premier League rivals.
Football had finally come to America.
