The transfer window always brings Arsenal fans to the same cross street.
On the one hand there is our steadfast philosophy of building talent and on the other hand there are those who want to ‘buy a big name'.
I agree it's a difficult intersection to navigate, but as the chief executive of our Club articulated on Fox Soccer Channel, we are a club that builds brands and players. We don't invest in saturated talent that requires over-paying for value. I don't think he could have been clearer. We value value.
Yes, we fans long for a name that will give us huge press, dent our bank account, but I don't know of a club that is more in line with what they say and what they do.
Our philosophy is true, it is honest, it is passionate. It has an element of David vs. Goliath and I think that's what makes our passion for Arsenal even stronger.
And to complicate matters, we were looking for value in the January window - a place where it is almost impossible to find the kind of value we seek. So, we can hope, we can long, but value is what will win in the end. Literally.
Keep the faith.
