Arsenal in the Community, along with other partners in Islington, has signed a pledge entitled ‘Time to Change,' England's most ambitious programme led by mental health charities, Mind and Rethink to end discrimination faced by people who experience mental health problems.

In collaboration with Time to Change, Arsenal in the Community has embarked upon a two-year programme entitled "How are you feeling today?" funded by the Premier League and Sport Relief which aims to improve social inclusion and wellbeing for people with mental heath problems, in the Club's local area as well as tackling discrimination and stigma. 16 Premier League Club community schemes are running similar programmes called ‘Imagine Your Goals' which will be evaluated by the Institute of Psychiatry at Kings College London.

Alan Sefton, Head of Arsenal in the Community said: "Using football as a way to engage people suffering from mental health issues means that they have a chance improve their physical wellbeing and potentially their quality of life through meeting others with similar experiences. Arsenal in the Community is proud to be part of this campaign which inspires people to work together to end the discrimination surrounding mental health."

Arsenal in the Community football sessions take place twice a week and are for service users at Islington Mind and the Camden and Islington Foundation Trust. Arsenal in the Community is working in partnership with NHS Islington. The project also supports and empowers participants to find employment and volunteering opportunities and offers training, including formal coaching qualifications. Participants have already played in a match against Waltham Forest's ‘Coping Through Football' project and reached the plate final of a tournament organised by the Positive Mental Attitude League. As part of the Club's commitment to the campaign, Arsenal in the Community also took part in World Mental Health day in 2010.
