The Arsenal For Everyone Project is a Religious Education initiative delivered by Arsenal in the Community's education department - Arsenal Double Club. The project is funded by the Premier League and is delivered in primary schools, free of charge.
The project involves three parts (all delivered by Arsenal in the Community staff):
a classroom presentation (1 hour)
an Arsenal football coaching session
a trip to Emirates stadium for a quiz and tour
Arsenal in the Community feel that this is an important project as it celebrates our own local community. The Club is extremely diverse; we have a squad made of 18 different nationalities, all with their own beliefs and religious practices.
To play as a team, it is important to have an understanding of the background and culture of your team mates. The same principle applies to schools and society.
We have produced a range of classroom resources based around the religious education Key Stage 2 curriculum. The material can be adapted to suit different age groups and levels of ability. The worksheets available are:
1) Symbols (Unit 3A - What do signs and symbols mean in religion?)
2) Religious Customs and Routines (1D - Beliefs and Practices)
3) Religious celebrations (2C - Celebrations)
4) Places of Worship (2D - Visiting a Place of Worship)
5) World Religions (4D - What religions are represented in our neighbourhood?)
