He is now out for three-and-a-half weeks, and I think he will not be available for Burnley. He will need another week, two more weeks."

Ahead of the match against Crystal Palace at Emirates Stadium, Arsene Wenger gave the following update: "From the last game, I think we lose Kieran Gibbs. It’s not big damage to his knee but he has inflammation and I don’t think he will be available. On Wednesday he had a scan, but it just showed inflammation. Hopefully it’s a short-term injury."

On Thursday, December 1, a statement was released to confirm that Santi will head to Sweden for ankle surgery. The club’s medical team and specialists decided that surgery is required to the plantaris tendon in Santi's right foot. Speaking ahead of Arsenal's match against Stoke City in the Premier League, Arsene Wenger said: "It’s a difficult way to say the surgery is ‘perfect’, but you can say it was needed and it went well. Afterwards we have to see how he recovers."
