Kieran came through the Arsenal ranks as a winger but has since made his senior England debut as a left back.
Arsène Wenger moved Kieran into the back four after he returned from a loan spell with Norwich in 2008 and it proved to be a masterstroke.
Kieran has all the attributes required to be a world-class full back - pace, intelligence, anticipation and sound technique. And his natural attacking instincts make him a valuable outlet when Arsenal go forward.
Kieran was an able deputy for Gael Clichy before the Frenchman left for Manchester City and will get his chance to make the position his own this season.
Kieran is a 'homegrown' player in Arsenal's official 2011/12 Premier League squad.
