It’s hard to believe that last season was only James’ first as an Under-18 regular. In 2007/08, he was playing most of his football for Arsenal’s Under-16s but in June the young goalkeeper put pen to paper on professional terms with the club.
James was a mainstay in the FA Youth Cup and Premier Academy League in 2008/09 and made his debut for the Reserves against Fulham in February eventually finishing with three second-string outings to his name.
Known for his superb shot-stopping ability, James also improved immeasurably in kicking and catching last term.
