Roy is responsible for operations at the Hale End Academy, where the Club’s young players from Under-9 through to Under-16 levels are nurtured.

This brings around 120 promising youngsters into his remit, while he is also involved in overseeing the recruitment of youngsters into the facility.

He is another staff member who boasts a playing history with the Gunners, having started out here as a trainee before enjoying spells with Rotherham, Leyton Orient and Colchester United.

A knee injury signalled the end of his playing career aged just 28, after which time he moved into coaching.

A fruitful 15 years in charge of Colchester’s youth side preceded another six with Norwich City, before he joined Arsenal as a coach in 1998. He is also a qualified PE teacher.
