Arsène Wenger believes Havard Nordtveit’s year-long loan to Nurnberg could be the making of him.
After captaining the Reserve team following his arrival in north London two years ago, the Norwegian youth international spent time on-loan at UD Salamanca and Lillestrom last term.
And, earlier this month, Nordtveit agreed to join Bundesliga newcomers Nurnberg for the 2009/10 campaign.
Wenger has kept a close eye on the 19-year-old’s progress since his arrival at Emirates Stadium and the manager hopes his potential will be realised during his time in Germany.
“To play here, I believe he needs at least one year in the Bundesliga,” the manager said at his press conference last week.
“It will be very interesting to see how he has improved. He is a player with good mental strength, is an intelligent boy and very mature.
“I believe he will be a very good player and whenever we check him, he played very well.”
