Arsenal Football Club can confirm that goalkeeper James Shea is to join Dagenham & Redbridge on loan for the 2011/12 season.

The 20-year-old keeper was a regular for Neil Banfield’s Reserves last season, making 11 appearances and keeping three clean sheets. James also enjoyed a spell in the first team squad, earning a place on the bench at Old Trafford for the FA Cup quarter final tie in March.

James goes to Victoria Road to fill the void left by his goalkeeping coach at Arsenal, Tony Roberts, who has retired as a player this season as the Daggers’ record appearance holder.

Everyone at the Club wishes James well for his spell with John Still’s side.
