Spanish youth international Hector swapped Catalonia for north London last summer with friend and Barcelona team-mate Jon Toral.

The pacy right back, who enjoys making regular forward runs, spent much of his youth career as a winger before undergoing the successful transition to defence. His attack-minded instincts remain a significant asset, however, with Hector’s service to the strikers a welcome aspect of his game.

The skilful young Spaniard played 16 times for the youth team and made four appearances in the reserves, where he scored once with a headed goal against Chelsea. Hector signed his first professional contract in summer 2012 and is delighted to take part in the NextGen Series.

"We just have to play every game as if it is a final, and try to get through the group stage,” he said. “If we do the right things, we have a really good set of players coming through and we have a good chance of winning the tournament. Why not?

“The likes of Jon Toral, Serge Gnabry and Kris Olsson are all really good players and they will help the team be up there among the very best. Some of them will be the ones who will make a difference in tough matches.

“It would be great to play [Bellerin’s former club] Barcelona in the final! It would be a really good game, I think we would have a chance to beat them."
