Rhys Murphy has today joined Preston North End until the end of the 2011/12 season.
The 21-year old striker, who has made five appearances for Neil Banfield’s Reserves this season, will team up with Graham Westley’s side who currently occupy a mid-table spot in League One.
A long-standing member of the Arsenal youth system, Rhys first signed professional terms with the Club in 2008 and was a key member of the Gunners’ FA Youth Cup and Premier Academy League Double-winning team of 2009.
After having a loan spell with Brentford in 2009/10 curtailed by injury, Rhys went on to make 14 appearances for the Gunners’ second-string during 2010/11.
A clinical forward with an eye for goal, Rhys has also made an impression on the international scene, representing England at Under-15, Under-16 and Under-19 level before switching allegiance to the Republic of Ireland, where he scored on his debut for the Under-21s in their 2-1 victory against Hungary in September 2011.
Everyone at Arsenal Football Club wishes Rhys the best of luck during his time with the Lilywhites.
