Striker Anthony Stokes has joined Championship side Sunderland
for an undisclosed fee.
The 18-year-old made his first-team debut in the Carling Cup Third
Round against the Black Cats in October 2005 and featured as a
substitute in Dennis Bergkamp's Testimonial at Emirates Stadium
in the summer.
After breaking into the reserve team as a
15-year-old, Anthony scored 25 goals in 79 appearances
for the Club at youth and reserve level.
The Irish youth international has recently completed a loan
spell at Falkirk, where he made a notable impact, scoring 16 goals
in 18 appearances. His time in Scotland included back to
back hat-tricks against Dundee United and Dunfermline, as well as
three strikes in his last game for the club, a 3-1 win over
Inverness Caledonian Thistle on December 30 2006.
