Zak Ansah enjoyed a significant season of experience after breaking into the Reserves set-up early in the campaign.

Having signed a professional deal with the Club shortly after his 17th birthday, Zak has come a long way in a short space of time.

The pacy forward registered 16 appearances for the second string this term and scored his first goal in the 2-0 victory against Swansea in February. The 18-year-old also struck a brace for Steve Bould's youth team, but mainly impressed elsewhere with his attacking contributions.

The young forward was employed in an unfamiliar holding midfield role at the beginning of the campaign before eventually featuring heavily for the Reserves in a more advanced position.Unfortunately his season was ended prematurely through injury, but he will come back stronger next season and will aim to continue his exciting rate of development.

“In the long term, as I progress to the Reserves and I hope beyond, I want to play as a striker. Being in midfield is good for me and the team at the moment, but I still feel that I am a striker. But in the Under-18s it works all round for me to play in midfield.”

Zak made a huge impact off the bench in the Under-18s' last-gasp victory over Aston Villa at London Colney in March, sweeping home a late winner in a fine display.
