Combative midfielder Jordan Wynter has enjoyed a hugely encouraging season in both Arsenal's Reserves and Under-18s.

Only Elton Monteiro started more games in Steve Bould's youth team than the promising 18-year-old, who  returned to his preferred position at the heart of midfield after spending much of his first season at right back.

Jordan scored twice in successive matches against Fulham and Chelsea in February on the way to earning four appearances in the reserves. His start against Everton on the final day of the season stands him in good stead for a proper crack at the second string next season.

The powerful midfielder has been an assured presence in the academy engine room all season and will look to take his encouraging form into the next campaign as he bids for a professional contract.

SOUNDBITE
“I think the area that I have improved on the most this season has been my mental strength. I play with more belief, which together with the fitness and strength work, as well as all the technical training, makes me a better player."

FINEST MOMENT
Jordan's first goal of the season in the 3-0 win over Fulham was particularly noteworthy. The young midfielder showed real composure to drill the ball into the bottom corner from outside the box.
