After making his first Reserve-team start in the opening game of the 2009/10 season, Conor Henderson went on to make seven appearances for Neil Banfield's side.

He also continued to show his technical prowess in the Under-18s where his precision passing helped front men Benik Afobe and Luke Freeman achieve impressive goal tallies.

The Republic of Ireland youth international was a key part of the team that beat Manchester United and Nottingham Forest in the Academy League play-offs.

In April he earned a place in the first-team squad for the trip to Wigan.

"Just to be included [in a first-team squad] was massive for me, I was so happy to be going with the squad. I know what I have to work on to improve my game, so I'll do that work and hopefully I'll be a better player next season."

The 2009/10 campaign was a important one for Conor after a nine-month lay-off the previous season. But the midfielder showed his development hadn't been hampered and in April Arsène Wenger included him in the first-team squad for the Premier League match at Wigan.
